Note | Intriguing shell with a light brown radiating pattern on the body whorl flowing onto the immaculate and heavily fluted varices The specimen shows profound morphological symmetry, beautiful solid form, moderate to heavy weight/size ratio (37g), perfect siphonal canal and aperture lip. The shell has an desirable and esthetic subdued pattern appearance. The shell is a beauty, making it a collectors choice. Excellent condition for the species considering the turbulent ocean conditions in this area. Harvested at the base/periphery of a kelp forest by the late, great Scuba diver Paul Kanner at 18-20 meters off the west end of San Nicolas Island, California in the late 90's. The shell presents with an erosion area on the lower ventral portion of the spire. Grade: F+++/GEM. |
