Note | Large, heavy and lovely shell with a desirable radiating pattern on the body whorl flowing onto the immaculate and heavily fluted/back-swept varices The specimen shows beautiful morphological symmetry, exhibits solid form, moderate weight/size ratio (36.8 grs), perfect siphonal canal and aperture lip. The shell has an desirable and esthetic pattern appearance. The size and pattern is spot on, making it a collectors' prize foliatum. Excellent condition for the species considering the turbulent ocean conditions in this area. Captured by Scuba diver Julian Lee off Santa Rosa Island, California at 12-14 meters on a hard granite reef ledge with great white sharks present. Collected by during the day in 2012. The shell shows a perfect siphon and aperture lip. Also present is minor erosion of the spire and normal varix edge attrition, typical for "big" ones. Grade: F++/F+++. |
