Note | Elusive and visually striking Conus species found only in tropical Eastern Pacific. Consistent distribution of wavy flammules comprising three distinct band are a clear and distinctive feature of this hard to find species. The shell has an excellent spire and balanced anatomical form. The shell was trawled at 40-50 meters off the remote Tiburon Island, Sea of Cortez, Baja California, Mexico in 1976. Rarely captured in pristine condition, the shell shows a nicked protoconch, self-repaired chip at the mid-lip and subtle chips on the anterior lip. Grade: F++. |
