| Note | Large, heavy and hyper-glazed nacre with the astounding high hump characterize this wonderful member of a common and famous indo-Pacific cowrie. The deep pigmentation and classic mottled pattern, with perfect extremities and a high weight/size ratio characterize this particular standout collectable cowrie (149.6 g). Collected at night during an extreme low tide between boulders and lava rock south of Waikui, Kohala Coast, Hawaii (Big Island) in 1990. The humpy exhibits negligible subnacre blemishes on the dorsum and glossed-over dimples on near the base margins (not considered defects). Grade: GEM minus. |
