| Note | Huge example of a wonderfully reticulate patterned and strongly colored southern Indian Ocean subspecies. This large specimen demonstrates a lovely primary color with intricate complex patterning, violet lateral wall tones (as seen in images) and calloused margins, clear and wide dorsal line, moderate to strong marginal tuberculation and prominent aperture teeth. Present are a perfect aperture and dorsum. Taken off Tolagnaro, southeast Madagascar by Scuba diver at 25-30 meters in a large reef crevice. The shell has some smaller subnacre/heavily glazed over scratches on the base and a recent unglazed small/shallow chip on dorsal portion of the labral anterior extremity. Grade: F++/F+++. |
