| Note | Distinctive modestly rostrated mappa from the Philippine Islands. Super glossy, thick nacre with a crisp pattern etched into the blush/red color-veiled dorsum. Subdued shades of deep blush/ruby red on both flawless extremities. The beautiful base is hyper-glazed, with of blush/brick red porcelain-like base and the shell boasts a heavy weight/size ratio (49.3g). The shell glows electric red under fluorescent lighting (black light). Complemented by flesh toned teeth, the base has opalized features on both extermities. Collected by local fisherman at 20 meters off Negros Island, Philippines in 3/2016. There are present a few micro-subnacre glazed blemishes on the columellar mid-dorsum and micro-delaminations on the base. Grade: F+++. |
