| Note | Shipwreck rusty chestnut cowrie from California. This is a primo specimen, with a rusty/brown and burnt orange dorsum, black undulating halo and dark tangerine orange painted lateral walls. The specimen has perfect anterior and posterior siphons with perfect china white teeth and aperture. A lovely specimen for this rare uncommon pigmentation found within the species. Collected at 23 meters by the Scuba diver Julian Lee on the Star of Scotland wreck off Santa Monica Bay, California in 2/2024. The shell displays minuscule subnacre blemishes. Grade: GEM minus. |
