Muracypraea mus bicornis f. donmoorei
65.3 mm     Cabo de la Vela, Colombia     22,00 €
Item# 0003551415
FamilyCypraeidae
NameMuracypraea mus bicornis f. donmoorei , Petuch 1979
Size65.3 mm
LocalityCabo de la Vela, Colombia
NoteBeautiful form, patterning and coloration complement this large specimen. Moderate nacre gloss with perfect extremities and distinctive lateral wall inter-patterning. Large bicornis with an excellent size/weight ratio (44.3g), showing typical tuberculation of the dorsum and a notable bright orange blotch on the high gloss base. The pattern on this shell is nothing short of amazing. In particular, the tiger/leopard mix of spots and elongated maculae gracing the antique white lateral walls is absolutely astounding. The shell was Scuba diver collected on a night dive at 20-22 meters while resting in a rock crevice off Cabo de la Vela, Colombia in 2008. The specimen has some minor imperfections including palpable roughness on the anterior extremity tips and some silt stains in the columellar aperture teeth. Grade: F++/F+++.
