| Note | Exceptional hyper-glazed, strongly walnut pigmented and beautifully elongated and morphologically unique umbilia from the colder water. Amazing glossy nacre and a moderate size/weight ratio (64.6 g). The specimen displays a well-balanced, dark chestnut/walnut brown, spotted maculae patterned dorsal blotch complemented by thick calloused margins. Evident is an impressive and pronounced posterior extremity with moderate rostration. A rare color form. The Umbila was trawled off Hunter Island, Bass Straights, Tasmania, Australia at 80-85 meters in 1973-74. The shell has a few deep aperture silt stains and a mid-dorsum wobble and some other minor blemishes. Grade: F++. |
