Note | Extremely rare Hawaiian Archipelago classic with intense vivid nude flesh body whorl hues, coral and peach pink varices with distinct grape purple colored blotches ventrally. A true "colorfest" of a harpa with superb form and axial symmetry. The shell features excellent nacre gloss, perfect apex and spire with a flawless lip. The specimen is closely related to Harpa kajiyamai, but classified taxonomically as a separate species. The shell was taken as a crabbed shell in a lobster trap at 50-70 meters off Maro Reef, northwestern Hawaiian Islands in 6/2004. The shell shows minor erosion of the notch and exhibits a chip on the anterior portion of the third labral varix. Grade: F++/F+++. |
