Size | 24.6 mm |
Locality | Tumbes, central Chile |
Note | One very nice live-collected specimen of the limpet Crucibulum quiriquinae from its type location at Tumbes, near Quiriquina Island at central Chile. This species was collected as bycatch by fishermen looking for the mussel Aulacomya atra, and it is in good condition for the species, which usually have very very eroded shells. The septum of these specimens is in excellent condition and the dorsum is in its natural condition with a little patch or red-black algae as can be seen in the images. A low initial price for an interesting limpet from Chile. |
