Note | Attractive shell California specimen with a brown/black body whorl pigmentation flowing light brown onto the immaculate and heavily fluted varices. The specimen shows profound morphological symmetry, beautiful solid form, moderate to heavy weight/size ratio (42.6 grs), perfect siphonal canal and aperture lip. The shell has remarkable backswept flutes on the wonderfully expanded and aesthetically pleasing wings. The shell is a keeper, a collectors favorite. Excellent condition for the species considering the turbulent ocean conditions in this area. Captured at the base/periphery of a kelp forest hard reef by Scuba diver Julian Lee at 15 meters off Santa Rosa Island, California in 2016. The shell presents with an mild erosion area on the upper ventral portion of the body whorl and erosion of the apex. Grade: F++/F+++ |
