| Note | Outstanding example of this rarely encountered Eastern Pacific deep ocean Murex. Excellent display of moderately fluted varices with tan/buff beige and mellow light brown tones of the wings and body whorl. The shell presents with a perfect apex, spire, and aperture lip. The shell is in remarkable condition for this rarer species. The shell was a bycatch collected by shrimp trawler at 100-120 meters off Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico in the 80's. The specimen shows minor attrition of the varix edges and some erosion/pitting of the ventral body whorl surface. Grade: F++/F+++. |
