62.8 mm Cape Canaveral, Florida 6,00 € |
|
Item | # 0003613192 |
Family | Conidae |
Name | Kohniconus delessertii - FROM THE OLD DAYS , Récluz 1843 |
Size | 62.8 mm |
Locality | Cape Canaveral, Florida |
Note | A rare cone with remarkable body whorl patterns and honey/orange banding. Exceptionally rare to find these cones in gem condition especially in the larger sizes. However, this is not one of them. Notwithstanding, the color hues for the particular specimen remain strong for a specimen taken in the "old days." The delessertii was trawled 30-35 meters on a muddy sand bottom off Cape Canaveral, Florida in the early 60s. The specimen exhibits a perfect natural lip, semi-nicked protoconch, a deep growth fold on the ventral body whorl, shallow fold on the lateral body whorl and a shallow chip on the notch. Grade: F+/F++. |
