NoteMagnificent and moderately large murex shell with perfect apex, siphonal canal and intact aperture lip. Wonderful tones of light brown and sienna complemented by intricate pin-stripping on the body whorls. The beauty of this specimen are the elaborate striking erect structures branching into exceptional violet and pink incurved foliaceous processes. The impact of the combined spiraling and elevated structures from the posterior view is exceptional. Collected off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka on sand/rubble substrate by tangle/trap net at 15-20 meters in 10/2023. There are some minor growth fold/disruptions on the body whorl. Grade: F+++.
