Note | Massive shell with a low spire and pigmented with a fantastic collage of rusty ochre, mandarin and honeycomb orange. The rusty color can be attributed to the rusty steel wreck it was collected from. The specimen displays seven varices with strong number and array of foliated spines. The shell shows attrition on several spine tips and minor chipping of the siphonal extremity. Taken by Scuba diver at 70 feet on the USS Strength wreck, Panama City Beach, Florida, Gulf of Mexico in 7/2011. Grade: F+++. |
