| Note | Large, heavy and close to the world record size and is definitely an "old oldi.", The shell demonstrates respectable patterning, profoundly knobbed shoulder, strong weight/size ratio, and remarkable thick axial cording (149 grs). The specimen shows the classic dark brown blotched aperture, excellent ventral body whorl and aperture gloss, with exemplary rugation of the outer lip. The shell has a perfect protoconch, spire and natural lip. Collected by local fisherman south of Mogadishu, Somalia, Indian Ocean on sand/rubble substrate at 4-6 meters in the early 90s. the shell shows two light growth folds and on the mid-dorsal a notable color pattern change. Grade: F+++. |
