| Note | Standout specimen with amazing pronounced and strongly patterned spiral axial cords painted over the china-white body whorl. The ribs display remarkable knobby projections (tubercules) and patterned anatomy directly connecting dorsally to the array of spines. Visually great appearing pattern and color throughout with the "hallmark" violet hued aperture inlet, a "majestic" appearing specimen.. The specimen shows a flawless spire and body whorl. Live collected by Scuba diver at 10-12 meters at base of coral reef in 2008 off St. Brandon (Cargados Carajos Shoals), Mauritius. The area is now a marine conservation, protected and restricted area under the Saint Brandon Conservation Trust. The shell shows minor growth folds on the mid-dorsal body whorl toward the outer lip and slight erosion of the protococh . Grade: F+++. |
