| Note | Exceptionally large, inflated and hyper-calloused member of this striking Hawaiian species. Brilliant color with a thin blue halo, thick glistening nacre and superb reticulated pattern. Heavy shell, with thick round calloused margins with tubercules on the anterior margins. The shell shows beautiful dark spotting extending over the margins and peripheral base. A solid shell with a strong weight/size ratio (94.5 grams). The maculifera displays perfect extremities and base. Captured by master Scuba diver Dave Watts off Kaena Point, Oahu, Hawaii on a night dive under a large boulder at 18-20 meters in 12/2010. There is evident two micro blemishes on the anterior ramp. Grade: GEM minus. |
