Note | Outstanding example of this much sought after Umbilia, with distinctive copper/buff brown dorsal botch, thick glossy nacre, perfect extremities that are highlighted by darker flesh/desert sand brown hues and a notable large mid-dorsum spot . The shell is moderately heavy for its size (64.7g) and shows remarkable form and a distinctive wide/wavy mantle line paired by rows smaller dots. The shell is wonderfully inflated and strongly rostrated. Trawled at 160 meters off the western Great Australian Bight, Esperance, Western Australia in the 90s. There is present a micro-subnacre and negligible sand grain inclusion on the mid-dorsum. Grade: GEM minus. |
