Item | # 0003614074 |
Family | Ranellidae |
Name | Charonia powelli - ALBINO DWARF FORM , Cotton, 1957 |
Size | 65.4 mm, w/o |
Locality | Stragglers Reefs, Fremantle, WA |
Note | Here is a SUPER UNUSUAL FORM f this uncommon Ranellidae. This a SUPER HEAVY MATURE DWARF FORM of this subspecies which is typically over 2x the size of this specimen. The ULTRA THICK LIP of this shell shows the maturity and has an impressive weight about the shell for such a small size. The fact that this is a rare ALBINO WHITE FORM as well adds to the specimen with the only colour being some pink on the spire and yellow around the mouth of this shell. Very good condition with some minor damage to the spire but a perfect lip and no major growth lines. Live taken on reef top amongst weed and sponges at 8m by Ranellidae guru Jon "Latte Diver" Daly. West of Stragglers Reefs W.A. February 2025 *White marks are from camera reflection. Please ask about further images* |
