Item | # 0003614575 |
Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Zoila jeaniana sherlyae , Raybaudi 1990 |
Size | 57.1 mm |
Locality | Point Quobba, Western Australia |
Note | Wonderful, mature, moderately heavy and striking jeaniana/sheryae with intense markings and deep blue/grey primary dorsal coloration complemented by large dark spotting of the lateral walls. The jeaniana shows a thick hyper-glossy nacre like polished porcelain with a gorgeous dorsum and extremities. The shell is highlighted by modest rostration, modest marginal tuberculation and a glazed pitch black/dark brown pigmented base. It shows a moderate/heavy weight/size ratio with a wonderful distribution of dorsal black maculae fringed in brown (22.2 grams). Collected by master diver Callum Edinger in 33 meters on a blue Spirastrella sponge off Point Quobba, Western Australia in 5/2020. Data slip from Callum included. The Zoila is a standout beauty and hard to fault. Grade: GEM. |
