NoteRecently described specimen that we have collected in limited numbers in recent years. We have collected a few live specimens crawling on silty mud in 240 to 270 metres which appears to be as shallow as they like to live. We find crabbed specimens in depths as shallow as 195 metres presumably dragged up onto the continental shelf shoulder by hermit crabs. This specimen has had a close encounter with a champagne crab. The powerful crabs predicate on both live shells and hermit crabs resulting in trauma to most volutes we collect in this depth. RARELY AVAILABLE !!!
