Size | 98.8 mm, w/o |

Note | The LAST, LARGEST, and BEST specimen of the JES Collection of this endemic eastern Australian species – the most beautiful of all Ancillariidae. Extremely rare size - approaching 100 mm. Exemplary quality for an ultra-delicate, trawled shell of such age and size. Minor smoothing and irregularity to apertural lip. Ultra-rich colour. Exceedingly rare retention of original OPERCULUM - extremely important for the Ancillariidae connoisseur. (Almost NO specimens of this species have the original operculum preserved.) In a completely different league to virtually all other specimens, and a rare shell when seen like this. Family: Ancillariidae. Data: Off Caloundra, Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 80-120 m; trawled; 1984. Size: 98.8 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
