| Note | Large shell for this now uncommon intertidal/upper sublittoral California rock shell species. Nicely curved short thick upswept varices on the body whorl, intact protoconch, spire, aperture lips and siphonal canal characterize this exquisite example of the species. Clear and classic axial striping painted on the light beige/rusty/pumpkin orange primary body whorl hue. Collected off Long Beach Harbor, California on the breakwater boulders at 4-6 meters mid-80s. Rough and tough archaic appearing shell displaying some minor erosion of the protoconch and erosion of the body whorl tubercules. Grade: F+++. |
