Note | Moderately rare Tiger Triton from the equatorial eastern Pacific. Impressive specimen when viewed ventrally, with a distinctive pumpkin orange patterned aperture and dark brown tinged aperture lips. The shell shows strong patterned varices, thick natural lip with an intact protoconch and spire. Moderate size to weight ratio (291.8 grams). The specimen was procured from an older collection. Collected on sand in 1960 at 6-7 meters by free diver off Pedro González Island, western Panama. The shell shows various blemishes on the body whorl and spire, consistent with a upper sublittoral inhabitant. Grade: F+++. |
