Note | Solid, inflated, hyper-bulbous and heavy specimen taken near the Capricorn Channel. (32.0 grams). Dark brown/tan rich pigmentation with thick margins and profound tubercles. The anterior extremity has a classic transverse groove and the posterior extremity is moderately rostrated. Intense dark spotting on columellar lateral wall with major tubercles and callosities on the anterior extremity. Beautiful thick glossy nacre with a porcelain base and perfect teeth and a slight peppering of very small silt inclusions on base. The shell shows exceptional anatomical form and a light subtle wide cream hued dorsal line. Trawled between Swain and Saumarez Reefs, Queensland, Coral Sea, Australia circa 2000. Grade: F+++/ GEM. |
