| Note | Beautiful and dark toned example of this harder to find distinctive cowrie species. This specimen exhibits high quality nacre luster, strong color, excellent symmetrical checker pattern definition, perfect extremities and dark base pattern. The specimen was collected by Scuba diver off Haleiwa, Oahu, Hawaii in 2/1996. The shell was collected at 20 meters under dead coral on sand/rock substrate at the base of a large coral reef. The shell shows a mild/subtle growth fold on the anterior ramp. Grade: GEM minus. |
