Note | Here is a PERFECT example of this SUPER RARE species of Cribrarula. Recently have we discovered a brand new population of exmouthensis exmouthensis in the Exmouth Gulf. We have collected just a few of these incredibly rare shells of which haven't been collected in the last 20+ years ever since pearl divers were in operation in the area. A SUPERB DARK MAROON/CHESTNUT dorsum has IMMACULATE SPOTTING over the entire shell which has just thin, but evident BLUE HALO just above the clean white calloused margin. The slightly rostrate terminals with a wide aperture and coarse, strong teeth are key characteristics in defining this species of which are all readily present in this species. A WONDERFUL example of this EXTREMELY ATTRACTIVE species of which is missing from most collections! GEM+ condition with no flaws to be seen. Live taken from host sponge in heavy sponge garden ground at 14m. Exmouth Gulf, W.A. March 2025 *White marks are from camera reflection. Please ask about further images* |
