Note | One very nice live-taken specimen of the rare and endemic species Scurria plana. This species lives onto rocks and onto the shells of large Fissurella and Chitonidae species and it is endemic of Chile and Peru. This particular specimen has a very plane shell (as it name indicates) and an excellent interior of the shell with no boring marks or damages, and which shows the pattern of rays which is quite characteristic of this species. The borders are in excellent condition and the dorsum is in its natural condition, with a bit of calcareous algae (which can be removed with care). Usually these species have dorsums covered with calcareous algae which make them very hard to spot in situ. This is the best condition for the species. A very low initial price for an interesting and rare limpet. |
