| Note | The LAST magnificent GIANT specimen of the JES Collection of this ‘classic’ species. I have always considered this particular specimen an exemplar of the species, exhibiting, as it does, a perfectly formed, markedly symmetrical, broad and balanced form, and being of particular beauty in its highly aesthetic contrast between the darker than usual whorls, and the pure white axial ribs. Rare quality for such size. Retention of original operculum. Data: Off Nha-Trang, Khánh Hòa Province, Vietnam; upon mud/sand/rubble substrate; 200 m; trawled; 2014. Size: 63.3 mm. Grading: Gem; w/o. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
