Note | THE MOST CURVED BRANCHED SPINES EVER WOOOOW!! Look at this stunning curved branched spines all around the body whorl and spire WOOOOW!! The first 6 varices with curved spines are really complete with a unusual perfection, the spines in the shoulder are taking a curvature to the spire side with extended spine spire. Wide form with special and exquisite spiny aperture lip. There are 2 spines absent near base not really detracting this seldom seen spiny beauty , otherwise GEM. Still for me F+++ because of this extreme spiny curved rarity and great size. There is such an immense variability in these specimens with 3 species that are probably so distant from each other but with mixtures between them in a population of hundreds of individuals such as this population in Barra de Navidad that may present individuals with similarities of M.ambiguus, nigritus and radix. There are many studies of this but contradictions always abound, this is the clearest example for Mexico that I have seen in this variable population. From the shape to the amount of varices that determine some rules in the studies but even so they are disproved when specimens contain some clear differences with studies in Peru and others in Mexico. Exquisite and unique fresh black shiny color with the best spire and spines all around. High selected rare specimens for this special auction, choose your favorite. Without a doubt this masterpiece is a treasure for anyone who wins it. It is much more impressive in your hands because of the details that you can't see in the photos. Super high selection in situ with the best exceptional conditions you can get for this extraordinary and seldom seen species. For any MURICIDAE lovers! For advancer collectors. Minor defect otherwise Museum piece. F+++. Found attached and buried between muddy stones with oysters about 6m- 7m deep. Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mexico. March 2025. Value for the longest branched and curved spines ever: 130-150 euros. High resolution image available on request. Good luck and Happy shelling!!! MEXICO PACIFIC |
