| Note | SUPERB SET. The waters, offshore Pilar Bay, are rough with big breakers coming all the way from Polynesia and rendering navigation in the area difficult, especially where the Conus are, quite near the coast. The bottom is mainly short sea grass. Apart from the C. floccatus, these divers take sparse specimen of C. aulicus, here in the two classic forms, of which the central one is sometimes handled as “Conus auratinus” from the Philippines. The rarest Conus from this area is the Conus magnificus. The left Conus is this species, in magnificent shades of pinks and pinkish dark brown. The shell has a small growth line on the center left, as can be seen, but is still one of the best magnificus ever: good size, fine+ quality and top coloration. All by all a very nice set of sympatric (living together) Conus. Very difficult to get as such. C. magnificus = 61.8 mm. ; C. aulicus BROWN = 72.3 mm. ; C. aulicus DARK = 84.6 mm.
