| Note | One very nice (but rather small) specimen of the edible sea urchin Loxechinus albus (Molina, 1782) with spines attached. This is a large sea urchin which is actively searched for its unique flavour. It is locally abundant but it is very hard to obtain intact shells, as the fishermen who collect them break their shells in order to prepare it. This one was obtained alive intact and was very carefully cleaned with soft brushes to achieve this condition, with no damages at all (as can be seen in the images). This is an interesting Natural History Item for your Wunderkammer for a low initial price. |
