Cylinder archiepiscopus f. duofasciata , Sowerby II, 1858
Size
44.5 mm
Locality
Madagascar
Note
GEM. A spectacular SCRIPTUS which does not need much comments: a “graphic wonder”. After having visited several areas in Madagascar and having seen local collections and suppliers, it is clear that the situation is very similar to a “Cape Verde puzzle”. Which means that each locality has it’s local variants in the textile group. I think that the subspecies name to group the textile from the western Indian Ocean “pyramidalis” is a provisory solution. The different populations should receive in many cases specific status. This is the case of the Tulear ones, which are small, heavy and white, and to which this shell belongs.
Madagascar. Tulear. 2013.
