| Note | GEM. (Original text by G.T. Poppe) A new population of orange C. cuyoensis has been discovered in the Cuyo Islands. Rumors go that there were many found, but I could only view three dozen specimens, all were repaired. When offered they look gem and apparently the shell doctor got a new product. The shoulder patterns were skillfully reproduced on top of the glue and it took me ten minutes before I detected the fraud. But because of the great beauty of this new population, I still purchased half a dozen and removed the fake colors and glues with acetone. This is the best one in the set, virtually gem. The Cuyo mozoii have a stronger orange hue and often a darker siphonal canal than the ones from Palawan - which are rarely seen today. Their size is smaller than the “old” batch. HYPOTYPE in the twin books: 1000 Shells, exceptionals from the Philippines.
Philippines. Zamboanga del Norte. Sindangan. 35 m. 2011.
