Family | Cancellariidae |
Name | Trigonostoma tuberculosum - LIVE Collected! Rare! , (G. B. Sowerby I, 1832) |
Size | 53.6 mm |
Locality | northern Chile |
Note | One very nice, large and LIVE-collected specimen, with very nice sculpture, of the rare cancellariid Trigonostoma tuberculosum. This is a very rare species, a large Cancellariidae, it is almost never collected alive, as they are naturally rare and they live in specific sandy spots among the rocky coast in northern Chile. This particular specimen was collected washed ashore alive among algae after some strong tidal surges, and it is in very good condition for the species, with a nice spire and first whorls and a nice sculpture and a shiny aperture with no lirae in the inside of the outer lip. There is only a minimal bit of damage around the aperture (as can be seen in the images), but this is usual in this species which lives in sand among rocky outcrops. This is your opportunity to obtain a large specimen of a rare species from the southeastern Pacific for a very low initial price. |
