| Note | OPALESQUE......EYE CANDY......On offer this auction some of the finest mappa from my personal collection. This one a phenomenon of leporicypraea and probably my favourite variation. Aesthetically pleasing with the finest opalized porcelain, purple-red, over the base and overlapping both margins. Luscious deep-red perfect terminals. Really dark upper deck pattern, darker than image suggests. Ultra-mature. Ultra-callous. Extremely heavy, in keeping with the very best opalesque. A few minor blemishes neither here no there and outweighed unreservedly by its strong suits. Grade: F+++/Gem. Provenance: from my own collection. By local fishermen; Palawan, Philippines. |
