| Note | F+++. A Conus lynceus with a highly unusual locality: Vietnam. 99 % of the shells in collections come from Manila Bay, the Philippines. In the literature, we can see that this specimen corresponds perfectly to the figure of the type in the Thesaurus (1866). Later this type was figured by Higo, Callomon & Goto (2001). It is indeed this golden form. Most shells from the Philippines are brown in pattern, but the shells from Indonesia, as figured by Dharma are more yellowish. One plain colored piece was figured by Petuch (1974) and one with almost no pattern by De Carteret (1996). This gold coloration is RARE. The condition is very fine: lip a little smoothed on the base.
