| Note | Solid, dark with deep coloration, and dark double banded pattern underscore this particular and formerly rare, but always remarkable, Indian Ocean cone. The specimen exhibits excellent tenting, symmetry and strong hues of bright pink/orange buried within the eye-catching bands. The cone demonstrates a moderate weight/size ratio. Taken at 80-120 meters by dredging off Kollam, Kerala, India in 2018. The colorful cone presents with a clean and intact spire, wear of the protoconch and some moderate chipping of mid-area of the natural lip and notch. There is also a growth disruption of the ventral shoulder as seen in the far left image. Grade: F++. |
