| Note | Beautiful bright/burnt orange colored specimen for the avid murex collector, previously known as Chicoreous crocatus. The specimen exhibits a distinct light merigold /orange/brown patched body whorl coloration extending to brighter shades of apricot/orange on the invcurved foliaceous processes and rami. The shell shows superb anatomical sculpturing with intact apex, spire, and aperture. A wonderful representative specimen. Taken by tangle net by local fishermen at 35-40 meters off Mactan Island, Cebu, Philippines in 2010. The shell shows one worn spine on the spire and minor palpable roughness of the anterior siphon. Grade: F+++. |
