GEM. A golden colored C. filamentosus of good size. A Conchological rarity and formerly a conchological mystery. Filmer (2011) solved the problems around this Conus in an extensive overview in Visaya from july this year. The absence of a type, the poor figure from Reeve and other coincidences made the name a nightmare for Conus lovers for more than a century. We still use the name “filamentosus” for shells with pronounced hairlines, but as a variant name. There is no further supply.
