Note | Solid, inflated and thick nacre-glossed specimen taken near the Capricorn Channel. A gorgeous shell in spite of defects. Modest brown dorsum patterning with thick margins and profound tuberculation of both extremities and margins. The anterior extremity has a classic transverse groove and both extremities are modestly rostrated. Attractive spotting on columellar lateral walls. Trawled at 100-120 meters at Swain Reefs, Queensland, Coral Sea, Australia in the late 90's. The shell exhibits a small chip of the posterior columellar extremity tip (upper right image), silt inclusions in the aperture teeth, glazed algae inclusions on dorsal aspect of both extremities, wobbles on the dorsum and other minor blemishes and the anterior siphon. Grade: F+/F++. |
