| Note | Inflated and hyper-calloused member of this striking Hawaiian species. Brilliant color and deep, complex reticulated pattern with three dark dorsal bands and a phenomenal thick nacre gloss. Heavy specimen, with thick calloused margins and beautiful dark spotted lateral walls extending over the tuberculated margins and permeating the peripheral base. The specimen has perfect extremities with a strong weight/size ratio (75.6 grams). Harvested off Kaena Point. Oahu, Hawaii on a Scuba night dive while nesting under a ledge at 8-10 meters. The shell has small subnacre scars mid-dorsum from being on the reef and subnacre delamination spots on the base on both lateral walls, not visible in images. Grade: F++/F+++. |
