Note | Exceptional example of westralica, with distinctive chestnut brown dorsal botching, thick glossy nacre and perfect extremities that are highlighted by darker mid-dorsum classic diffuse brown spot. The shell is moderately heavy for its size (72.5 grams) and shows remarkable form and a distinctive mantle line paired by rows smaller dots. The shell is wonderfully inflated, modestly rostrated, has a "humped" dorsum and generously blessed with a thick nacre. Trawled at 130-150 meters off the western Great Australian Bight, Eucla, Western Australia. There is a short glossed subnacre wobble, hard to see, on the mid-columellar dorsum. Grade: GEM minus. |
