NoteThis is an impressive visually aesthetic wide specimen (46.6 mm) of this South Seas subspecies. The distinctly humped dorsum features fine dorsal netting with striking bluish/grey maculae in the reticulated pattern and complete with a wavy dorsal line. The margins are densely spotted, which show a boldly thick/prominent callus with white porcelain/apricot hues. The heavily spotted margins exhibit moderate tuberculation and the shell shows an excellent size/weight ratio (52.1 grams). The flawless base shows excellent gloss and the posterior extremity is slightly rostrated. Collected by Scuba diver Paul Kanner off Taioha'e Bay, Nuku Hiva, Marquesas at 10 meters in 11/2003 on exposed rocks at night. Original data slip from Paul Kanner included. The specimen is a classic collectors piece. Grade:GEM.
