GEM. Conus voluminalis is a quite difficult to understand taxon. There is no doubt that this is a local race of the classic C. voluminalis. The “macarae” are extremely variable in coloration within one population, and we here offer the best in the rare banded variant from the “Placer” population in Masbate. At present we know of only two well localized populations: one in Masbate and one in Negros. HYPOTYPES in the twin books: 1000 Shells, exceptionals from the Philippines.
