| Note | GEM. From very deep water this unusual C. hopwoodi with a regular spot pattern and two darker spiral bands, but not with fused flecks as yet. We are diving this species from 12 m on and deeper on muddy sand bottoms, but never this coloration. Possibly a special deep water form as this specimen comes from over 200 m deep. One such shell can be seen in RKK plate 57 nr. 26 but from the Solomon Islands and with a big growth mark and almost invisible spots. Closely related species that may have this coloration are C. aculeiformis, C. longurionis katanganus and longurionis s.s. Collector’s piece for experts, an extremely rare color form. No more seen. HYPOTYPE in the twin books: 1000 Shells, exceptionals from the Philippines.
