Item | # 0003694633 | Family | Fissurellidae | Name | Fissurella limbata - Nice, hard to obtain , G. B. Sowerby I, 1835 |
Size | 62.9 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | One interesting specimen of Fissurella limbata. Large specimens of Fissurella limbata are ALWAYS covered with Scurria scars (at least one in each specimen). They are rather rare and difficult to obtain. This species, as all the other large Fissurella species, is actively collected by fishermen so they often have nicks, chips, and damage on the border of the lip. This particular specimen has a large Scurria scar, some chips in the border of the lip, and the dorsum is eroded aroung the foramen, however it is a rare species, difficult to obtain in some seasons, so I am offering it at a very low initial price. |
