| Note | One very nice specimen of Concholepas concholepas. This is the largest muricid species found in Chile, and one of the largest gastropods found in northern Chile. They are heavily extracted and their populations are diminishing, as it is an edible species with a large muscle. Usually their shells are very encrusted with encrusting calcareous algae and cirripedian communities, among many other epibionts. This specimen is very nice, having a nice interior of the shell and a dorsum covered with some barnacles, which can be cleaned further. A very low initial price for an interesting muricid. |
